The liberal elite of Athens County, while they recognize racism in policing nationally, will tell you that Athens is special and unique and black lives aren’t under threat here. But what do the facts say?

What We Do


We collect data using Freedom of Information Act requests, local newspaper archives, and publicly shared information.

We analyze the data with attention to racial disparities, city priorities, police misconduct, and comparison to other cities.

We share our knowledge with our community and advocate for change at local, state, and national levels.

Who We Are

We are a tight-knit group of community members and activists taking a closer look at the police presence in our community. Our focus is on the data which highlights the violence, excessive spending, and systematic racism perpetuated by local police departments.
